Mazalda was created in 2002 in Lyon by Lucas Spirli, Mathieu Ogier,
Julien Lesuisse, Adrien Spirli,
Stéphane Cézard and Gilles Poizat. Since its beginnings, Mazalda has
played more than 500 concerts

In 2005, evolving from street band to stage extravaganza, Mazalda

In 2008 shifting to a more electric instrumentation with a
strong link
to exotic pop music, they released
a second album, Science-Fiction.

Inspired by Indian street soundsystems, in 2010,
Mazalda creates Turbo Clap Station, a multi-diffusion
device designed for large outdoor performances and Turbo Clap Club the
indoor version. Resulting
from the success a third album, Turbo Clap is released in 2011.
A fourth album, Dauphin includes a compilation of recordings with
former drummer Mathieu Ogier.
In 2013, Yann Lemeunier joins as lead drummer. In 2014 Mazalda begins a
project on Algerian Raï Music. The first phase of the praject,
'10s Orion Raï, invites the Algerian Raï singer Cheb Lakhdar and the
Algerian percussionist Mohamed Ben Amar for a repertoire of '80s-'90s
raï. In 2015, phase 2, Orion Raï, goes further with singer Sofiane
